Large items such as appliances, furniture and mattresses, together with hazardous wastes such as computers and monitors may not be disposed of by leaving them in the garbage area. When you purchase new appliances or furniture, it is your responsibility to have the old ones removed.
These items are not collected by the City of Ottawa, and if left in the garbage room, the corporation must pay to have these removed.
In other words, by leaving such items in the garbage room, you are forcing your neighbours to pay to dispose of your waste.
