Re:The Everything Girls - Avoid!

Have you tried other cleaning services?  You might be surprised, it's difficult to find a perfect one.

It sounds like they didn't do a satisfactory job, which is fine to share, but to threaten them with the fact that you are going to make negative posts and report them to the BBB is a bit ridiculous in my opinion, especially considering they offerred to redo the work.

Their reviews elsewhere are quite positive.

Re:The Everything Girls - Avoid!

UPDATE: After telling them we would complain to the BBB and post a negative review, TEG did offer to come and redo the job. By that time given the negative emails we decide to not respond to anymore of their emails.

Now The Everything Girls are threatening to sue us for slander. They seem incapable of being told they did a bad job. Stay tuned!

The Everything Girls - Avoid!

We tried out this company as they put up an advertisement on the bulletin board in Phase 1. We scheduled a time. They called up a day later and pushed the time out 1 hour. No problem.

Then they arrived an hour late and needed me to find them a parking spot (not my job). There was only one person (not the 2 promised on the web site -- which they later changed after we complained). I asked how they would clean my cherry floor. She planned to mop it wit h water. That will ruin it. I supplied a proper mop and cleaner to do the floor. I had an appointment and had to leave as I was now late.

When I retured I was not impressed with the results. The floors were streaky as was the glass desk, shower stall and table. It appears they poured dirty water down the kitchen sink and then did not clean out the sink. The stove and counter was a "lick and a promise". They billed us $70 after quoting $60.

When we complained the next day the manager basically said too bad. They did not offer to fix any of the this issues.

The "Everything Girls" will not be invited back and I advise everyone to avoid. They claim to have other customers in the East Market but given they could not even find the building, I doubt it.

Claridge Phase III and IV

I was in the Claridge sales centre yesterday, and the salesman told me Phases lll and lV are in the works, planned to be 24 stories high, phase lll planned to be completed in 2014.

This will block the south facing views of EM3. The only "good" news is, they are not both lined up on Rideau, but on Cumberland, so only Phase lll will be on Rideau, with Phase lV directly south of it. The Dworkin Furs building will not be touched by this project.

granite countertops

Chris,
Do not use Emerald Tile& Marble on Sheffield Road. I had a really bad experience with them. They measured my kitchen space incorrectly so that the stove didn't fit and were also going to install non-matching pieces because they didn't have enough of the type I had ordered.

Good luck.

granite countertops

Hi,

I'm planning on replacing my laminate countertops and opting for granite.

Can someone recommend a good contractor/company in the Ottawa area? Or alternatively, is there a company/contractor that I should avoid?

Thanks!

Chris

Suggestions for custom curtains?

Just to confirm, Phases 1 and 2 also have the same rule that from the outside of the building(s) all curtains/drapes must be white, off-white or charcoal to present a uniform appearance when looking at the buildings from the street.

Need someone to babysit my cat from Nov 14- Dec 12

Hi,
I live in phase II. I am going on a course outsite of Ottawa (Nov 15-Dec 11) and then on a trip outside the country (from Dec 18-Jan 10. I need a caring person who would like to take care of my 12 years old female Cat while I am gone. I definitely would like that this person take my cat in it's appartment so that she doesn't get lonely. I don't have family in Ottawa and my close friends are alergic to cats so I thought that there might be someone who would be interested to enjoy a cat for a short period. I will provide all food, liter etc.
Thanks,
If you would be interested please contact m and we can arrange a tryout period before my course if you wish.

Suggestions for custom curtains?

I was wondering if any of you had anyone or a place to refer for custom curtains? It seems that most of the curtains in the store are not sized accordingly for the high windows of The East Market. My unit have the suggested blinds which are great EXCEPT for the blackout effect in the bedrooms. While I love having the windows for the living room always allowing light in, I am wanting to make it darker in the bedroom.

Who have some of you used for installing the rods for the curtains (which will probably have to be put in the ceiling)? Any stores to recommend?
